In fact, I often mix in PT using this technique. That way as a mix happens I can also make adjustments as it goes by. PT bounces in real time, so bounce to disc doesn't save any time. It's especially handy when making rough mixes from recordings of a whole show on the first pass, while listening to the material for the first time.
