Yes if you let it get mastered, use as little compression as you can,
especially on groups.

We had one of our (in-the-box) mixes mastered by a pro masterer at
Wisseloord
studios, I don't remember any similar complaints. I think the idea that
mixing
digitally will always lead to grainyness is a bit of a long shot. Especially
since any plugin, or even the recording, could be to blame.
If there is any analog warmth to be added to the digital total, I think the
mastering stage is the moment to do it (nice analog tube compressors etc).
