a friend of mine has the worst problem with her G5 using a firewire410.
she has tried everything reagarding electricity, nothing helped.
she gets a very bad resonance noise through the firewire audio
device that we thought to be a earth loop noise at first
she is not using any other firewire or usb equipment
the firewire410 is powered via firewire but the problem is the same
if it is adaptator powered
the only additional part is an internal extra harddrive..
SHe can hear the whole CPU work and hardrive and fan through the car!
putting down the powermanagement to low of course reduce a bit the
noise but then what's the point?
we have tried her card on my g5 and even if we have a bit of
resonance, it is very acceptable (it's about the same on her ibook)
I have asked other 410 user and they told me they have this if they
amplified the output really high, but other wise they don't really hear.
It reminds me of the bad isolation problem of the built in audio
output of some of the mirrored G4...
