Shouldn't it be exactly the other way around? That the JV-1080 does
recognize the midi drum notes Logic does send out.

Check out if the sample are mapped according to the GM standard in
the JV-1080. If so you only have to make sure that you set the
JV-1080's particular set to listen to the same MIDI channel your are
sending your programmed drum regions (midi files) over from Logic. If
the JV-1080 uses a different note mapping you could set up dedicated
hyper sets in Logic (that is if you are using the hyper editor for
drum programming)
