I never ever used it though. Unlike a lot of people I just don't like the sound of it. (Please no flaming, just my personal opinion...) I think the Wavearts Trackplug5 EQ is good, Nomad Factory have just released their Analog Signature stuff and the EQ is very good, I bought that. Sonalksis I have too, and despite hundreds of reviews across the 'net claiming the 517 EQ has that silk smooth top end sound, I don't agree. To my ears the Sonalksis highs sound as harsh as the Channel EQ. Not saying the Channel EQ is bad though, for a freebie EQ it is freakin amazing, and the lightningfast GUI is great. Just been demoing the URS classic console EQ's and the Waves SSL bundle the last week. I've only worked on an SSL twice so I can't vouch for the Waves authenticity in terms of sound, but it sure is a good sounding EQ with an unmistakable analog edge. I won't be buying it though, I'm not a fan of the typical hyped SSL highs and I'm not in popmusic :-) I will be buying the URS's though. I can't tell if they indeed produce a Neve or Api type of sound, but they sure sound wonderful. First digital EQ's I've used that indeed give good sounding highs that won't make your ears bleed at high volumes. Also the lows are very solid. The bundle gives you 2 new Mix Eq's too, with the N and A series sound but with 7 bands and hi and low filters. I replaced the EQ's on 3 productions with the URS's this weekend and I'm totally blown away by the sound. As for surgical EQ's, can't help ya out there... There's a new EQ coming out shortly from Elisound, their claims are promising, but maybe a little too hyped...? http://www.eliosound.com/aireq If you happen to have an iLok I'd surely give the Waves SSL and the URS's a try, in my own search I forked out the 40 bucks for the iLok just to demo them and I'm surely glad I did! Goodluck, let us know what your findings are! O. I take it that's you on artofthegroove? Solid production!
