Since I don't have a crystal ball that tells me where I'm going with
a song/tune, the following helps:
*I consider each song/tune a "project," call it for instance,
"Frodo."
*At the start I make a folder labelled Frodo
*I make folders within this folder:
Frodo Audio Files (or just Frodo-Aud)
Frodo Songs (Logic documents)
Frodo guides (audio files I use for
inspiration/example if necessary)
*Within the big folder I put a text document "Frodo Notes"
containing
the brief, lyrics, ideas, budget etc.
*Within the Frodo songs folder I start my project with "Frodo Song
01"
Then, whenever I take something out or make a hair-pin turn (as it
were) I "save as" Frodo Song 02 etc.
In the text document I keep a description of each song--that is each
Logic document. This way, I can skip back to any song and go along
another path, for instance:
...Frodo Song 08 is 05 with strings....
Hope this makes sense and is somewhat helpful.
Regards,
