Money at stake. > I'd start with this: If you have a second drive in your system, install a fresh OS, and see if you still have the issue. If not, your OS on the main disc is bad. If it still does it, and you have tried all other possible audio I/O situations (built in audio, 3d party card or pci based audio system) I'd say your hardware is bad. I doubt it's Logic itself, though I suppose it is possible (but highly improbable). This issue hasn't been widely reported, and with a list of over 20, 000 people, I would suspect of at least 10 to 20 people reporting this as an issue, then maybe it's Logic.
