I'm curious what methodology did you use to compare the mixes? Most
engineers I know find the SSL 9000 series to be a bigger more open
sounding console than the 4000 series. Although some like the 4000
better for rock and roll. In my experience with my heavily modded
console which is not a neve or ssl it's not even close comparing mixing
itb versus
outputing all of the individual tracks to a console.
