I've used Logic Platinum for Mac OS 9 since Emagic's version 4.x. I've been
leery about making the move to OS X because of sluggish performance and
plugin/hardware incompatibility and instability. I have finally heard enough
positive feedback regarding Logic 7.1 to upgrade. Will my system be able to
handle Logic Pro 7.1? Other than EXS-24 (and Reaktor for sound design), I
don't use virtual instruments, but do a good bit of my mixing in-the-box.
My setup is as follows:
-Emagic Logic Audio Platinum 6.x
-Emagic Sounddiver 3.x
-Reaktor 4.x
-Dual 800 G4 (Quicksilver)
-1 GB RAM
-2 Seagate Cheetah 10,000 RPM SCSI drives (one is 9 GB & the other is 18
GB)
-MOTU 2408 & 1224
-Emagic Unitor 8
-Lexicon PCM-91 (connected digitally to MOTU system)
-TC Electronic Fireworx (connected digitally to MOTU system)
-TC Electronic D-Two (connected digitally to MOTU system)
-Tascam DA-40 (connected digitally to MOTU system)
-Many various external hardware synths, samplers, dynamics and effects
processors
-Mackie 32x8
I am purchasing/upgrading to the following:
Apple Logic Pro 7.1
MOTU PCI-424 card (I am upgrading it to the PCI-424 through MOTU this week)
UAD-1 Ultra Pack
Waves Native Platinum Bundle (also upgrading from older OS 9 version this
week)
Most of what I do is techno. I would appreciate comments or suggetsions from
anyone regarding what kind of performance I can expect with my system and or
anything else that I should consider while upgrading my studio.
Cheers,
Alex Gardel
