If the data's really important (what data isn't?.. heh), another alternative may simply be to pay the Apple shop, or your chosen repair guys, to transfer the data from your dead G5 to the Powerbook for you. Or even to DVDs. The one-off cost of such a transfer may end up being cheaper or more practical than having to buy/wrangle whatever equipment you'll need to organise such a hook-up yourself. Of course it may not be, but it's worth considering if you're looking for a solution.
