Subject: [LUG] Replacing dead G5 motherboard? Getting at the files from a Powerbook?
Message #202282
This is a reply to #202058.
Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to replace a dead motherboard on a a dual 2GHz G5? I've had it at a repairing service but if I should let them do the replacement it would cost me 70 percent of the price of buying a new dual G5 machine!!! So either I'm finding a less expensive way to repair the machine or I store it in a wardrobe to build a fish bowl out of it on some rainy day. Question 2: What's the best way to get at G5 drive data from a Powerbook? Is there some sort of "converter" that let you connect a Powerbook to an ordinary PCI-X (or whatever..) hard drive?
