I agree Tony that it's the engineers choice. I've had discussions with
engineers who do use it as a rule, others who prescribe to individual
track compression & no mix bus comp and yet others who -sometimes- do
individual, subgroup & mix bus to varying degrees.
Being pragmatic myself I have used all these approaches at different
times but the one strategy I most often use is individual track
compression without sub group or mix bus compression.
