Hi Guys,
Thanks so much for your responses. I'm getting close to a
solution with your help but I'm not quite there yet...
I do have the Firebox driver installed and by all indications
it's working fine. I get a visual cue from the panel light that's
it's syncing up with the computer and it records audio fine. I just
can't seem to get the audio back through the Firebox to hear it.
I've tried every combination of cable routing, output jacks and
output routing on the I/O section of the channel strip in Logic to no
avail.
Thanks to your suggestion, I realized that I *do* hear the
recorded audio and the virtual instruments from Logic using <Built-in
Audio> as the selected driver in Audio Hardware And Drivers. That is
a good thing since I now know I'm not crazy. :-)
As I understand it, using that method means the D to A
conversion is being done by my Mac instead of the (I presume)
superior D to A converters in the Presonus Firebox. Also, the audio
is travelling via a mini-headphone jack. Surely I can do better than
that with this gear.
With the Firebox selected as the audio driver, isn't the
digital audio supposed to travel back up the firewire to be converted
by the Presonus Firebox? Am I missing something basic here? That's
the way it worked with my old Digidesign audio interface and Logic
3.7.
Any suggestions welcome.
Doug
