Subject: Logic Pro 7 - CPU efficiency
Message #199758
Hi. Haven't had much luck after searching the forum, so hoping for some advice. Just wondering if anyone can provide any feedback on the CPU effeiciency of Logic Pro 7 compared to Pro Tools LE 6.4 - 6.9. I like using Pro Tools, but finding that I can only run a maximum of 4 - 5, third party plugins (e.g Camel Space, OhmBoyz). Yes, it's an old 867 MHz PowerBook (1 gig RAM, also using external hard drive), but I don't want to spend money on new Mac (either iMac or 2 GHz PowerMac) only find that the corresponding Pro Tools update (6.9) is just as CPU hungry, and I find myself in the same position I am in now 6 months down the track. So I'm thinking of buying Logic Pro 7 (to use with Mbox) with a new Mac. I would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has switched to Logic from Pro Tools, or from someone who uses both programs (probably what I would end up doing). Thanks.
