Both of the above will put you on the right track.
I would add.....have the singer sing multiple passes as long as they can
retain power and edit from the multiple takes.
Pay close attention to what the vibrato/tremelo on the voice is doing. You
don't want to abruptly crossfade into a less intense or slower speed from
more
intense/faster speed. Ideally (obviously depending on the song) I would be
looking for a very strong vibrato easing in as the voice carries on with
maybe
the vocal snapping out at the end.
Map out how you hear the vocal in your head then try to have the singer
create the pieces you need to string together the illusion.
