I am a bit confused. I own a Behringer BCF2000 which I am trying to use with
Logic Pro
7.1. It took me a little while to figure out how to boot up the BCF2000 in
LC mode but
once that was sorted I thought it would be plain sailing. However, I cannot
figure out how
to control the thing. The problem is that the BCF is not an LC so when I
read the manual
for the Logic Control, the features do not correspond with the BCF. For
example, how do
you use the transport controls on the BCF2000 and which buttons solo/mute
channels. I
know that these functions can be set up within the BCF2000 but the Logic
Control has
dedicated controls for these operations and when the BCF is in LC mode none
of its global
commands work anymore, so you cannot assign the controls?
I might be getting this wrong and, I admit, I am getting more confused each
time I turn
the unit on. Behringer's manual is so unhelpful they might as well replace
it with a kipper.
They do not even tell you how to turn the unit on in its various emulation
modes! Is there
any sort of documentation that specifically explains how to use the BCF in
these modes or
will I just have to figure it out for myself? I want to make the most out of
what it can do
and the Logic Control is an extremely powerful unit. However, I don't even
know how to
control the master volume on the BCF!
Maybe we could use this thread to create an archive of tips for everyone
using a BCF2000
in LC mode. You know, just post replies with little bits of helpful info
like how you are
using your BCF to set up a channel for recording (if that's possible), that
sort of thing? I
know that I would find this very helpful and would definitely add my own
tips in time,
once I've figured out how to get the damn thing going!
In fact here's one easy tip to get thing's going. Although pretty much
everyone who own's
a BCF2000 will no doubt already know this, it wouldn't be much of guide if
the essential
LC Xview software available from www.opuslocus.com/lcxmu was not mentioned.
Another tip, for anyone who has just purchased a BCF2000 and, like me,
discovers that the
unit isn't really compatible with Logic Pro at all, is that you need to
start it in LC mode. To
do this hold down the third button from the top left, under the word 'PAR',
while you turn
the machine on. You should briefly see your unit's OS (which needs to be
>1.07, although
I've heard dodgy reports over version 1.1) flash up on the screen and it
will then say 'LC' if
everything has worked.
That's about as far as I've got! Any further info is most welcome! ANYTHING!
