If you are running non-realtime performance applications--email, web,
Office, and so on--sleep is very useful for conserving CPU, screen burn
in, etc. So Apple bothers with it.
Per specifically said FOR AUDIO WORK, which is a realtime performance
application, in which the CPU powering down in the middle of editing or
when you walk away from your computer for a while could be
catastrophic.
