Subject: Managing large sample library
Message #198471
I have a very large sample library that I rely on for scoring and ambient composition. I use Logic 6 on Mac OS9 for my compositional work, and intermix live audio with the soundscapes. I have used a number of different sample players as VSTs with Logic including EXSP, Halion, Kontakt and Kompakt but have not found any that allows for the management of large sample libraries very well. In all cases, when I attempt to audition sounds for a project, the sample player is taking SO LONG to open up as it scans the sample library before I can use it. What techniques have others used with dealing with large sample libraries and logic? I'm trying to find techniques, alternative sampler products, etc. that will allow me to regain my productivity with all of this. Otherwise I'll end up back with my hardware samplers and work with those because at least I can use them quickly. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks Myles
