wow, thank you Hendrik for that very in depth reply! I should have been more clear about the GM issue. I think I was making things too complicated. I should just ask: What is the easiest way to use GM files with Logic? My friend with Cubase opens them and they play back fine. Not the greatest sounds of all time, but good enough for many purposes. And the Quicktime Music Synthesizer (available through the "DLS music Device") suits my purpose -- but it won't play drums. But this shouldn't be a big deal, right?
