Subject: Re: Leaving M-box -- suggestions on a good I/O?
Message #196620
This is a reply to #191439.
if you're leaving the mbox on a budget, take a look at the new focusrite saffire. i was going to get the motu 828, but this has 192k, and is half the price. the only thing i don't like about it is the limited inputs. if you want to use some outboard gear (like a reverb) this unit is really not for you. but if you're like me, i'm using it for guitar/bass input only, it's pretty sweet. i just ordered it today, i'll post further feedback. it's got two inputs and the software and plugin's that come with it look pretty decent. and the site raves about it's compatability with logic. i found it at sweetwater.com, $399. i was also looking at the presonus firebox, i expect that unit will take a price drop pretty soon. you could do a single stereo output loop with this one. lower sample rate, though. and i don't like the way the midi input is on a cable. plus, the software that comes with it is pretty limited. if i had unlimited funds i'd probably get the motu 828, but for the songwriting i'm doing, it's kind of overkill. peace!
