You are right, the answer is in front of you - in every Logic version
which supports Key Commands :)
Just plug any switch-pedal into any MIDI device which supports a pedal
(your keyboard?) then open Key Commands, search for the command you
want to control remotely. Enable the MIDI learn button, step on the
pedal (hold the foot down!) and disable the learn button That's it.

I know that very well. You might think about a footcontroller, if you
have other uses for such a device also. Then you can execute all
transport commands right from where you are sitting.
