The big advantage, as I see it, becomes obvious when you are working
graphically with automation. With the concept "8 clones = 8 midi
channels" you get access to not only the the RMX plug-in part volume
but also the plug-in parts aux sends.

Yes, that's the same as with the "midi multiinstrument cabled to RMX
instrument" method. All eight faders affect the RMX audio instrument
fader. Unless you put transformer in between to filter out cc 7 data.
But since the midi multiinstrument faders do not connect to the RMX
plugin's eight part volumes I see no advantage in doing that.
BTW, last week I saw a post recommending to use the RMX midi learn
function to map those faders to the RMX parts, but this doesn't work
since RMX does not recognize the midi sent by those faders. Any ideas?

But it would not let me work with Logics graphic automation on the same
track as the midi regions were dropped on. That's the big disadvantage
as I see it.
I like the "audio instrument clones" method because it's neat and
easy.
If those seven extra audio object clones in the environments give you a
bad day you can simply stuff them away somewhere where they can't be
seen.

Yes, but only if you open up extra automation tracks inside the main
audio instrument automation track. You cant write automation on the
same track as the corresponding midi region is located. That's what
buggs me with the Spectrasonics method.

Yes, they do, but I do not se this as an advantage (se below)

No. Moving the Track Mixer multiinstrument fader does not correspond to
the part inside the RMX plugin. Have you found a fix for this?
