I did a quick test as well, using a Vox AC30HW (the newer AC30) miked
with a Sennheiser 421 (actually 3 of them, on the cone, off axis and
behind) ran the signals through the board, Dialed in Guitar rig with
the "same" settings as much as possible and after leveling
everything
the True amp had more thud (closed in a sound proof drum booth). guitar
rig IMHO had more attack and sensibility seemed like (Guitar rig
playing out of a Digi 192 interface to the board, Yamaha DM2000)
Monitored through Genelecs S30D and a 7070 sub as mains, and 1032's as
alternates. Played my trusty Steinberger (2"x4" as my studio rats
call
it) into Guitar Rig also seemed Brighter (or more crystalized some may
say).
I agree with y'all
Modeling is not 100% there, but I sure love showing up with a laptop,
in ear monitors and my 2x4 Steinberger, 15 minutes before the gig, or
for commercial music, I'm in and at the bank cashing my check in a
flash, and I saved my spine. One gig pays for itself too, the rest is
gravy, or as we say in Italy, Its Panettone.
I think there is a lot to say about the "charm" of the real thing.
Love em both, and strapped to a killer program like L7 I'm in fretboard
heaven, and keyboards, and drums, and violin, and Kazzoo, and........
on and on.
I'll take one of each please....
Ciao
