hi list,
I've been using Logic for many years now and although I really love the
software (even with all its workarounds sometimes we need to use to get the
job done) there's a very specific aspect that still drives me crazy...
Quite often, when set in Cycle mode, Logic's playback at the end/beginning
of the loop is not as smooth as it should. I'm talking about a tiny little
click in Logic's output each time it starts the loop again, when playing
back audio files/loops perfectly cut to cover the whole Cycle lenght.
Obviously I always make sure that the waveform is cut at a zero-crossing
point and that the audio region has its fade-in and fade-out fields active
to a minimum value, but the click keeps being there...
I'm quite sure it's not something related to sound-card/ASIO/CoreAudio
settings because if I de-activate Cycle mode and simply loop the audio
region all trough the Arrange page ('L' key), the click disappears and the
audio region loops perfectly, as it should.
To me that's the proof that the fault is not in the way I trimmed/faded the
audio material, but somewhere in Logic Cycle playback's behaviour. I tried
using the "Smooth Cycle algorythm" option, but I couldn't note any
difference.
I've been experiencing this problem basically on any Logic version since
4.0 (the moment I started using the software), on several PC/MAC setups,
using different kind of audio interfaces. Currently I'm using Logic Pro
6.4.2 on a G4 MDD 1Ghz, 2 GB RAM, RME Multiface, OS10.3.6-OS9.22 and on a
TiBook 500mhz with RME Digiface, OS10.3.6-OS9.22
Any help/suggestion?
thanks in advance
leo
