I own a Powercore PCI and I find that it doesn't work that
efficiently with Logic on individual tracks because of the
latency issue. If you use the "non-latency mode" (by
clicking the Powercore insignia in the bottom left corner
of whatever plug-in) it ramps up the CPU processing meter,
and if you "optimize" the settings in Logic and the
Powercore application for better performance (per the TC
Electronic website; Optimizing Your Powercore with Logic)
you end up operating Logic at very high-latency settings
especially for live input recording. For example, the
Tubifex plug, IMO, sounds great.....however, it's almost
impossible to use it in a live recording situation because
of the latency.
I understand the purpose of the "Compensator" plug-in but
who the heck wants to put it on every other track just to
appease one or two uses of the other Powercore plugs. I
know you can incorporate it into your Autoload, but for a
guy like me who only uses it maybe once in a song, it's not
worth it. These days I only use it on the Master Bus (X3
or X5) cause I don't have to think about latency there.
I understand that the UAD-1 doesn't even have "non-latency
mode"? Seems kinda bothersome to me. any thoughts.....
