Subject: Over 2GB of memory for plugins?
Message #169613
Unless I'm mistaken, with Panther the situation is that a single application can't access more than 2GB of memory (even though there can be more than that in the system itself and visible to OSX). Tiger probably will help there, but since it's a little way off, that's not what I'm wondering about now. Does anyone know or has anyone tried whether AU plugins in Logic would be treated as separate apps in this regard? For example, if you had a software sampler taking up 2GB, could you simply load another one and use another 2GB with it, provided you have the RAM?
