Subject: Moving audio track by samples
Message #169601
On drum tracks, I sometimes want to send a track out through my mixer (Mackie d8b) to outboard analog compressors and then back in, mixing the compressed track with the uncompressed. I know that the round trip latency out and back in to the d8b is 82 samples, and want to take the newly recorded compressed track and simply move it back 82 samples so it lines up with the previously recorded tracks. I looked in the manual and it appears I can only do this from the sample edit window (not from arrange), but then the manual starting getting very obtuse, talking about anchors vs. start points and updating arrange vs. not, etc. Not a model of clarity. Can someone please tell me in plain English the easiest way to do this (other than using plugins which I know would solve the problem, but sometimes you just want that analog touch)? Thanks!
