Basically it doesn't work, assuming you're dealing with a typically complex
audio project. Once you start editing audio in PT, Nuendo or whatever
original DAW, Logic is not going to be able to import the resulting OMF
files, because it hasn't been implemented properly. It works OK in OS 9,
but is messed up in OS X and Emapple haven't been able to fix it yet.
If you have an audio project where the files have no (or very few) edits,
then it may work. But if that's the case, you can probably just import the
original audio files into Logic anyway. The point of OMF is to retain
positions and basic file information after they've been edited.
This was all confirmed to me by tech support in the UK today. If you have
more than about a hundred edits (which you're pretty much bound to if you're
using a reasonable number of audio files) then you're stuffed. FWIW I spent
most of today bouncing all my Nuendo files track by track, making notes on
edits and mutes and then imported them all into Logic. What would have been
about a ten minute job has taken me most of the day.
Although Apple apparently know there's a problem, I doubt we'll see a fix
pre LP7.
