The first one has been removed from the board but on the second one i found this info: I just fixed this Firewire noise problem on my new G5 which I purchased on May 20th. During tracking with headphones at fairly high volumes, I began noticing the type of noise related to the GUI that people have been commenting on in this thread. After reading all the posts on this thread, I noticed one guy who recommended that you disconnect the Mac internal audio out from your mixing board. I did this and ALL noise associated with the GUI disappeared; and I mean it's totally gone. Even though I did not have the volume turned up on the mixer channel which the Mac internal audio was plugged into, I was getting the buzzing and whirring associated with menus and mouse movement coming through my Benchmark converter (which is connected via S/PDIF to a MOTU 828mkII which is connected to the G5 via Firewire). I tried it and my noise issues were fixed instantly. Case closed here. JP
