Subject: Best 2-in, 2-out audio card/box
Message #165865
Hi! Upgrading my stuff. To go with my new G5-based project studio, I need a new sound card or box. The idea is high quality, no frills, low cost. 2 in and 2 out is all I need. PCI card would be fine. Running from mixer (with option for balanced out) or, if I can afford it, from that newish stereo preamp from Focusrite (Platinum range). Must stay under $500. I've looked at: M-Audio Audiophile 2496 (I know it's 4 in, 4 out) ESI Juli@ (Anyone seen this card? Balanced I/O. Great specs. Cheap. OSX drivers coming) Mbox (Different approach, but preamps and portability option are nice. Not 96kHz - is this a real issue?) Anything else I should look at? Any reason not to buy any of the above? Any advice appreciated!!! Tony www.maxwellsongs.com
