Well Judith, a lot of dual G5 2.0 seem to suffer from this
"problem",
including mine.
However, what sounds very problematic is not so bad from my experience.
Why? Well, I switched from an AMD Athlon system, which produced a lot
of noise: The fans were load, I could not really get any soundcard
to work without a slight amount of noise, some even started buzzing
when the harddisk read audio data etc.
All in all, it was a quite-noisy-experience in my studio.
Now, the G5 itself is extremely quiet compared to any PC I know.
This give, it seem normal to me, that some noise now come through
simply because the overall noise floor is extremely low.
Sometimes it's bad, because the chirping and high frequencies can
more easily get on your nerves than any blowing fan - on the other
hand, my studio was never more quiet :)
Since non of these noises were in my recordings so far (at least
from what I've tested) I don't see any reason why I should give
back my dual Mac. And its performance with Logic is simply stunning...
Wish you a lot of fun!
Cheers,
Thomas
