Ah! You must think "outside" the box, grasshopper. As often as I
need to edit the audio to
match the video, I need to edit the video to match the audio. This is
particularly true with
intricate sound design. The constant rendering back and forth of audio, then
video is a
real time consuming pain. If you're working in an environment where the
video is thrown
"over the wall" and you're stuck with it, then your approach is
perfectly acceptable. Also, if
all you're doing is block overlap editing, then you can just do it within
FCP.
If anything, I'm biased towards the audio ruling the visual edits, but it
really works both
ways.
