Thanks for posting your thoughts! However, the only non Apple/G5 hardware on this machine is a PCI card for the RME Multiface. It has been reported before that OSX can have difficulties in detecting external FW drives on dual G5 machines. I posted to see if someone knew about any explanation and also because of the latest update 10.3.4, which I myself had hoped for to correct this problem.
