This is a reply to #164277.
I started this thread a couple days ago. I've got some great information. Thank you all. I forced myself to read this http://www.broadcastpapers.com/audio/audio.htm and the also the results from a few additional web searches on the subject. It's been a humbling experience. VU, RMS, PPM, Upp, DBu, Dbv, DBm, DbFS, Db- SPL, Db-SIL. I understand some of their meanings better than others. I'm not sure I need to understand all of them. And I know nothing of how they relate to my work in Logic. If I hope to deliver broadcast ready product, it seems I need three things: 1)The standards from the client 2)A digital peak meter 3)A meter that measures an average volume (like a VU meter) 4) Something to write a test tone. Logic provides me with peak meters, so that's taken care of. But how do I measure the average volume in the digital realm. Is there a third party piece of software that can do this? I found this: http://www.acumalabs.com/Mackie_d8b_Pro_Audio_Lab.htm . Would something like that work? Except I am using logic with a digi001. Not a mackie. And how do I write a test tone. Can I just make a sine wave with the es1 and level it at -12 dbFS? I'll keep reading. Thanks, Charlie
