This is a reply to #162585.

I don't mean to sound un-appreciative, because it was a nice >FAQ when it was last updated (abandoned?), but if people have any >recent questions about things like Logic Pro/Express, G5 issues, new >FireWire intefaces, and many other recent issues, they're not going >to find answers to them in there.... As the one who hosts the FAQ and who is responsible for the actual updates, I feel I should respond to the above. Not a defense, but an explanation. First of all, no, the FAQ is not abandoned -- it's just not been updated for a long time. I've simply been way too busy with all sorts of things in my private life. I'm afraid my time-schedule won't get any better in the near future since I'm about to become a father this summer (of a twin -- help... :-). Still I hope to find time to do an update somewhere this summer. Second, the issues that are referred to in the above quote, such as G5 issues, new interfaces, and the like, will probably never make it into the FAQ, simply because they're not "FA" enough. Of course right now everyone asks about new item XYZ, or current instability between A and B, but as we all know, these issues will most likely be sorted out before you can even start collecting them for a FAQ. In other words, most hardware issues are rather transient in nature and thus (imo) don't warrant inclusion in the FAQ. YMMV, and if so, feel free to post FAQ entries regarding such issues or hardware to logic-faq@yahoogroups.com. The main focus of the FAQ is Logic itself and the operation of the software -- view it as a kind of complement to the manual if you will. Moreover: many hardware issues I can't check because I don't own the hardware. It's therefore impossible for me to judge if a problem is a real problem (possible FAQ), or a matter of user-error (RTFM). And even if it's a real problem, it's difficult to estimate the number of people being affected by such an issue -- we don't want a FAQ entry for something that only 20 people suffer from, do we? Third and last: what you write is correct: if someone has a G5 issue, he won't find an answer in the FAQ. Still there are tons of questions asked in the LUG that _are_ answered in the FAQ, such as "how do I control multiple softsynths simultaneously", and even _those_ questions keep appearing in the LUG week after week after week... together with their answers. I think this is the kind of 'laziness' on the part of many (new?) users that Mark was referring to. Okay, hope this clears up a few things.
