I'm actually using a similar procedure like this to get a mono file. Well,
in fact, I am usually just doing everything in WaveLab - but it's pretty
much the same. Even easier with dbpoweramp which is simply converting any
stereo file to (mixed) mono in seconds. But these are PC only programs, so
it might not count for the majority on this list.
