The original post didn't ask about collapsing a stereo mix
down to mono. He only asked about bouncing to a mono
file (which Sascha answered).
But to actually collapse down to mono, it can be simpler than
what you suggest. All you need to is route everything to
a stereo BUS (say, Bus 1/2) before it goes to the physical output.
And then create two MONO BUS objects (Bus 1 and Bus 2) in the
environment and pan each of them dead centre (and of course route
these two busses to the same physical output pair.
And then when you bounce the single output (instead of the stereo
pair output), you'll get a single file that is a stereo-collapsed-to-
mono version.
Not much of a palaver.
