yes, I can reproduce that with logic 6 OS X, too.
I'd like to know which is the right procedure to insert a midi file into an
arrangement?
One should be able to just drag a file from the finder into the arrangement
on a certain track, that would be much easier than the complicated import
funtion.

I cannot verify this. Only when an audio instrument was manually cabled
the R button loses its Midi thru on/off function.
