Yeah, okay, gave it a quick spin. You were right, I was wrong. Ointment. Flies. The new CueMix functions do (as you suggested) seem to be designed to use Control in "Mackie" mode rather than "Logic" mode (on Windows, at least). I downloaded the v1.02 update MIDIfile from the Mackie site, installed it, rebooted Control into Mackie mode, and the first line of the Control screen lit up with "828mk2 CueMix DSP - Bus 1 - ... " when CueMix was run. Cool. This was regardless of whether Control was hooked up via the 828's own MIDI sockets, or by a different interface (CueMix now has a "control surfaces" menu option for setup). Cuemix as the topmost window /also/ seemed to respond to control surface messages (for just Mix1) when Control was still in "logic" mode, but that doesn't seem to be intentional ... the Control's display and bank/channel buttons wouldn't work unless it was booted in Mackie mode. So it seems that at a pinch you can select a bank of eight unused or dummy mixer objects, then call up CueMix in the middle of a logic song and fiddle with Mix1 without rebooting Control, as long as you don't mind the sliders in those eight "logic" dummy channels also changing. Maybe not a good idea to do it that way, though. Anyhow, Mackie mode ... I do still seem to be getting a certain amount of "fader interference" between WinLogic 5.5.1 and CueMix, but I don't know if that's down to CueMix, or due to me not having set things up properly. Someone more conversant with "Control" stuff than me probably ought to report back on what actually works and doesn't ... but I think it's very nice to see MOTU trying this sort of ambitious integration- type thing with other companies' products. I did have a quick look on some of the control surface forums before I posted, but couldn't find any mention of the feature.
