Is this sound coming through the monitors or from the drive?
If it's the drive, back it up fast!

First - is the disk very full, or highly fragmented? If so, that could
be the problem. It sounds like the disk is having problems identifying
free sectors on the drive that it can write to.
If not, I'd verify and repair the disk using DIsk First Aid (OS9) or
DIsk Utility (OSX) to make sure the disk isn't damaged.
I'd also recommend backing up all the data on the drive in case its on
it's way out.
I've not experienced anything like this, but I'd check the disk over
first.
I guess that updating your audio card drivers might also be worthwhile.
Not sure about this - but maybe these are causing Logic to crash whilst
recording to disk.
