It's generally a good idea to start from scratch, pain that it may be. Also, if the authorization keys are based on hardware (as is the case with Amplitube, for example), the old keys won't work on the new machine anyway. > Any Ideas? > > 1) Pay apple, they have a pro user fee for $99 (will the authorizations > work?) you could, but why bother? That'd work, though you shouldn't need to reformat the new drive. Again, you don't want to overwrite your OS with an older version which may not even work with your new G5. Personally, I'd opt for this method as it's the coolest. :) > 3) ????? Your Idea If you've got a superdrive, external burner, put your stuff on CD / DVD. It's a good idea to make a solid backup before attempting something like this anyway. External firewire harddrive. I've got one of these (available on the cheap these days) which I use for doing regular backups. Plug it in and fire it up, copy your files then disconnect and attach to the other machine. Then there's the old network file transfer. Get yourself a little ethernet hub or a router and hook up the two machines that way. Am I missing anything? :) ~ rob
