Brad, You didn't mention which sound card you are using. If you are using the sound built-in on the Dell, then that's your problem. The Built-in sound might work ok for a few audio tracks, but once you start trying to do real time processing (like effects or audio instruments) you need something better suited to that workload. Almost any USB/Firewire/PCI audio interface will provide you with significantly better performance. Lance
