I think your problem is that not all performances are multitimbral, ie 16 channels, each with a different MIDI channel. All you need is one performance set up so that cha 1 =MIDI cha 1, cha 2 = MIDI cha 2 and so on. Save this as your default performance, and use the instrument parameter of each Logic MIDI instrument or each part of a Logic multi to choose the patch, volume, panning etc parameters in the Roland.
