If I am exploring I just call it something inane like a1. Next save is either the same or a2 if it is significantly better / different. If it crystalises into something I want to pursue I can usually give it a good name by then, but I always save the drivel in the begining as something. Using this method I have rarely lost any work and never very much. Mind you, you need to clean up regularly if you do this, especially all the backup copies of the primordal versions of songs. Ray
