I won't try to touch on troubleshooting your existing environment but an easy workaround would be to insert a fader, enable its visibility and if you know the offset use the fader to reprogram existing cc values. Wire the fader into the channel of the Audio instrument. You would then use the fader as your arrange track for recording/editing. This is the simplest workaround for quick fix use.
