Subject: [LAW] Help from Dual RPC-1and Roland VM Users
Message #156158
I sent this to the Roland VM7000 group but they seem to be down, and I thought I might reach someone here who is not on that group anyway. Okay, Here is the story: I am using Logic 5.5 Platinum for Windows (I am running XP Home with a PIII 1Gig, 512mhz ram and a separate HD for the audio with all the OS Tweaks). I have a Roland VM7100 Mixer and console, and I am trying to install a second RPC-1 card but I cannot get anything to record into Logic from the second card. Both cards are set for 44,100 and locked, as well as set not to "Reset When Idle", and both cards are set to "Multiple Card Sync". All of the faders are up and mutes are off. I have tried it with using the link cable and without. Locked to the cards, locked to the 3100 (after trying to plug both cards into the 7100 with no results) and locked to the 7100. One of the questions I have is the dip switch settings? The RPC-1 manual is very unclear on this. They tell you how to set the switches if you are using the cable and syncing to the first card, but not how to set the switches if you are syncing both cards to the mixer (the recommended way for the VM7100). Does anyone know exactly what the dip switches do? I hate it when a manufacturer just tells you what to do instead of explaining why you do it and how it works. I wonder if it is a setting in Logic or something. In the RPC-1 Control Panel I see that both cards show 1-8, not 1-8 and then 9-16 (second card). I am setting the inputs on the tracks in Logic to 1-8 (1st card) and 9-16 (second card), but it leaves me wondering how Logic knows that the second card is numbered 9-16 when the RPC-1 Control Panel. Is there something else in Logic settings to tell it the difference between the two cards? Is that where my problem is?
