I have a similar problem and was looking through here for the answer but
can't find it. I am having a problem automating anything [besides volume] on
the Audio Instrument channels with my midi controller. After looking deeper
into it, I found that the same things automated in the Audio Channels are
being read/sent as "Control" msgs BUT in the Audio Instrument
channels, they
are being read/sent as "Fader" msgs. Anyone know how to program
these
"fader" msgs to be controlled by midi controllers?

PS. I found out what they were by automating with the mouse, then using the
command "move automation data to object". Then I was able to see
the
automation data in the Event Editor to see what msgs are being sent. This is
how I found out that the Audio channels are using control msgs and the Audio
Instrument channels are using fader msgs.
