Hi everyone.. I have a few questions-- wonder if anyone here has
the answers:
#1. How can you set up multiple regions in the arrange window for
specific looping puposes? For example, I am working on a flute & piano
sonata, and
I have just played > in the entire flute part, and I would now like to
assign, measures
1-20 = page 1, measures 21-42 = page 2, etc.. so that I can then tell logic
to
loop specified pages.. is there a way to do this, or do I just have to write
down on a
paper what measure #s correspond to what pages, and then manually select
that
group of
measures.. ?
#2. is there a way to open up the ESX editor from the arrange window,
without
having to go into the environment and double click on the ESX24 part of the
fader
#3. is there a way to tell logic to clean up my environment? I have created
a bunch of
Audio objects to make audio instruments for the esx24, but my Audio
environment
window looks very messy and its hard to make sense out of nything.. how do I
tell
logic to allign all my stuff together neatly??? I have tried elecing all of
the options
under "CLEAN UP", but it does absolutely nothing.
#4. When you deselct the chain in the matrix editor, and then click it
again, it goes
purple.. What does purple mean?
thank you.
Now as for the bugs:
#1. If you have a bunch of time signature changes in the arrange window.. I
had a file
with probably 6-7 changes from 9/8 to 6/8... Anyway, I moved the part in the
arrange further ahead, so then my time changes occured at the wrong spots..
So I
went into the signature editor, and attempted to change the value of one of
these
events. I saw that all the numbers changed when I changeed one.. I thought.
.Ohh..
Cool, it moves them all relative.. But then I examined it more closely and
it made
absolutely no sense. I had a change at 81.1.1 for example, and when I
changed that
to 88.1.1 some other events changed to 82.4.1.1 for example.. It made no
sense, it
was not relatively moving at all.. And further , I could not find any way to
get it to just
change one time signature event's time occurance without it affecting
everything else
in a bizarre way. Even double clicking on the event's time occurance, caused
everything else to change in a weird way.
#2. When a part contains sustain pedal value at 127 followed by note events
(attempting to get a muddy effect), If you start playing the sequence at any
point after
the note events occur, immediately from the start of playing you will hear
all of those
note events occuring as a cluster at once.. In otherwords, if you have a
part, playing
alternating notes, C-G back and forth, slowly.. with the pedal down the
entire time.. If
you start playing at anypoint in there, you will hear every C-G doubled
ontop of itself
a thousand times, causing your speakers to blow up.. And more likely drive
you crazy
as playing it from those points will not give you any sense of what you are
trying to
listen for, etc. etc. The only way I could find around this was to remove
the sustain
pedal until after I was certain all my note events were correct, and that I
was sure I
would be playing from start to finish with no interruptions.
And one more interface flaw for the road:
When you have a region looped in the arrange window, and you move the
locator to
somewhere in that looped area, and start playing from that point, it
automatically
starts at the beginning--- Very annoying. So, say you want to have measures
10-20
looped, but you arent sure if 20 contains that last note you need to hear..
so you
select 10-20, and move the cursor/locator to 19 to listen, and it starts at
10.. So you
scream, and then turn off your loop and then listen to 19 and then turn it
back on and
adjust it to 21, where you meant to be in the first place...
I encourage all of you who agree with me and my points in the thread
"the PROBLEMS
with Logic 6.3.1" to contact Emagic and express to them that there is a
person out
there (i.e. ME) who needs to be hired as a consultant to help them fix all
of these
things, and make the software much more user friendly. I get the sense that
they
need to have some musicians work for them. Though I don't know anything
about
their staff, but from the way things look.. I don't get that musical
creative flow vibe
from the software.. I do get a great technical vibe though... Need the best
of both.
