Subject: [LAM] level coming in 12 dB too low in Logic via RME Hammerfall
Message #145424
Here¹s the situation: I¹ve a mic connected to my Joemeek TwinQcs pre-amp which is connected (balanced) to my Creamware A16 ultra which converts the analog signal to digital (ADAT optical). The read-out on the Joemeek meters and the A16 meters are identical, which is good. Now, the digital signal coming out of the A16 is going into my RME Hammerfall 9652 card inside my Mac G4 (via ADAT optical). If I record enable an audio-track and choosing the right input, I get a weak signal on Logic¹s meters, about 12 dB too low. When I turn up the gain on the Joemeek, it will distort the Joemeek itself or (more likely) the A16 well before Logic¹s meters are clipping. I also tried it with Spark and there I had the same problem. Can someone with a Hammerfall 9652 check if he has this same problem? It seems that it has something to do with either Mac OS X or the RME driver or am I overlooking something here? I tried to post this on the RME forum, but I noticed that you have to fill in name and password to get on the newsgroup. Someone knows how to get in there? Thanks a lot for any help, it¹s driving me nuts. I¹ve been trying all evening to sort this out. I hope it¹s something simple :-) My setup: Mac G4/533 with 512 MB RAM RME Hammerfall 9652, driver version 1.1 Mac OS 10.2.6 Logic Platinum 6.2.1 Creamware A16 Ultra Joemeek TwinQcs etc...... -- Mark de Jong Multispace check out www.multispace.nl for: * recording and mixdown studio * private audio lessons * electronic (ambient) music * and much more!
