Subject: [LAM] Proteus 1 Bank Changes?
Message #138043
Hi List, I have a Proteus 1 and last night I found that in the v5 multisets a multi-instrument for the Pro 1 was made. The maker has it set up for 2 banks, one for sounds 0-127, the second for sounds 128-191. Here is the catch though: the Pro1 doesn't respond to the second bank changes. It still selects the first bank, for example even if I select sound 128, the Proteus changes to sound 0. I'm not surprised by the Proteus behavior since I read in the manual that the Pro1 cannot "normally" access program change numbers over 127 and that you can "re-map" the sounds using the MASTER MENU of the Proteus, but you can only assign 127 different sounds to the 127 program change numbers. (You know, like the Proteus 1 was made before "new" MIDI banks were made?) Ok, so providing that my rambling above makes sense to somebody here are my actual questions: 1) Is there a way in the Environment to "add" value to the program change and make the Proteus 1 select those 128-191 patches? 2) If not then why was does the multiset for the Pro1 even include the second bank? Is it just for my ease of use if I did want to remap some of the sounds inside the Pro1? I suspect that question 1 can't be done, but then again, the Pro 1 manual later says that "Banks may be requested using the preset request command and the appropriate preset code listed below" And also maybe the Environment gurus out there can help a novice like me. Well, my long post is over now...hope I didn't forget anything ... and hope I was clear in what I am looking to do. Regards, Ken kirk www.waxthedecks.com
